For those of you someday envisioning a position in academe, this is a great opportunity to see how academic job searches work. I urge you to attend as many of the public events as possible (including receptions and presentations (see below for the schedule).

From Department Head Jeannie Thomas:
As part of our search for a new faculty member with expertise in creative writing and English teaching, we will have three job candidates visit campus beginning Tuesday, Jan. 10 . We really need your help in recruiting the best candidate for this position, so please attend the sessions set up for the candidates to interact with or present to department faculty and grad students. We also need your feedback, and we will send out forms for each candidate. If we have reception or a candidate presentation that is not well attended, it leaves a bad impression on the candidate and hurts our recruiting effort. So please attend these events! It's also a great way for grad students to see this part of the job search.
Here are the times and dates:
1. Alison Mandaville, Univ. of Washington, Tuesday, Jan. 10
9:00 – 10:30 am Candidate Presentation, OM 340 (Dean's conference room)
10:30 – 11:30 am Bagels & coffee with members of department in Swenson Room
5:00 – 6:00 pm Reception at Hamilton’s Cedar Room (drinks may be purchased at the bar)
2. Christian Moody, Univ. of Cincinnati, Friday, Jan. 20
