Here's a great fun event and/or a chance to participate in a service opportunity that you may then list on your CV. Bridgerland Literacy will be hosting their annual Scrabble competition (Jan 25 at the Ritter Mansion). They are looking for both teams to compete and volunteers to help with judging and the silent auction. Go to http://www.bridgerlandliteracy.org/ for more information or to register for the Scrabble Tournament. Volunteers may contact Director Melissa Allen at blit@batc.edu. To get a sense of the event, you may also want to check out the news story from last year at http://news.hjnews.com/news/article_4cec3482-496b-11e1-8f97-001871e3ce6c.html. Bridgerland Literacy is an award-winning, private, non- profit organization that serves the estimated 11% of Cache Valley residents who should be able to read at the third grade level but cannot. The organization trains volunteer tutors and matches them with students who need help with literacy skills, including reading, writing, spelling, mathematics, and basic computer skills. Instruction is one-on-one, confidential and geared to individual needs and abilities.
