Steps for Graduation Paperwork for online Technical Writing MS degree:

If you are completing your Technical Writing degree of 33 credit hours and are planning to graduate this term, please be aware of these four steps:

1. Notify DGS. Send me an email (evelyn.funda@usu.edu) with the subject line "I'm planning to graduate!"  In the body of the email, include your full name (as you wish it to appear on your diploma), your A#, and your mailing address. Deadline for this email is either October 1 for Fall graduation or February 1 for Spring graduation.

2. You should already have your Supervisory Committees formed (those are assigned by DGS, and we do try to keep up to date on those for TW students). You need do nothing in this regard, although you may call or email Candi Checketts (DGS Staff Assistant) to check that the form was filed  (candi.checketts@usu.edu or 435-797-2729)

3.  You need to fill out your Program of Study form.  See the instructions at the first link below (TW students only need to do steps 1-6) and the form itself on the second link.

After you have filled out the form and signed it on page 4, you may send it to me electronically at evelyn.funda@usu.edu or fax it to me at 435-797-3797.  I will check the form against the program requirements and your official transcript.  Then I will get your committee signatures for you and see that the form gets submitted to the Office of Research and Graduate Studies.

4.  Fill out the “Plan C” Completion Form, available at http://rgs.usu.edu/graduateschool/files/uploads/Comp_Req_PlanC.pdf.  Deadline for this is Feb 15; however, in case of off-campus students, these need to come to me by Feb 7 so that I can check your completion, sign, and get the paperwork to Office of Research and Graduate Studies by the deadline.  Again, you can send it electronically or by the fax number above.  This form simply alerts the Grad School that you are planning to graduate, and once they get it, they will send you materials regarding finishing and the graduation ceremony.
